Abstract

The selection of parental forms before crossing ensures the success of the selection. In this research work, primary morpho-economic indicators, such as fiber yield, fiber length, cotton weight and seed weight, of fine-staple cotton varieties Surkhan-14, Ash-8, Iolatan-14 and Marvarid, belonging to the species G.barbadense L. It was revealed that the selection of varieties by the ecological-geographical method based on the structure of the characteristics of parental forms and yield elements gives good results. In this regard, the resulting crossed forms will be changeable and quickly adapt to different conditions. When crossing forms of a species that are different from an ecological point of view, their characteristics change according to the laws of ordinary crossing.  Here, the possibility of selection is greater, and varieties formed without sharply distinguishing conditions from each other acquire some significant traits (resistance to diseases, high fiber quality, large boll size) that are not characteristic of local varieties.
